Provincially Recognized and Nationally Certified Programs

Since 1975, the Ontario Recreational Canoeing and Kayaking Association (ORCKA) has been the cornerstone of recreational paddling in Ontario. Committed to making paddling safe, inclusive, and environmentally mindful, ORCKA supports canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and voyageur canoeing across the province. Its comprehensive programs—recognized provincially and certified nationally—offer skill-building opportunities for paddlers and instructors at every level, from novice to expert. With a network of over 175 organizational members and a dedicated volunteer community, ORCKA empowers paddlers to confidently and responsibly explore Ontario’s vast and beautiful waterways.

Governance

ORCKA is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit organization governed by a Board of Directors elected annually by its members. The Board operates under the Ontario Not-for-Profit Corporations Act and meets regularly to manage programming, budgets, and member services.

ORCKA also advances safe paddling by providing standardized training and collaborating with organizations like the Recreational Boating Advisory Council, Ontario Camps Association, and OPHEA.
