Organizational and Instructor Insurance
ORCKA's Organizational and Instructor Insurance Program applies to ORCKA sanctioned or supervised activities, within Canada and
conducted by Organizational Members who employ ORCKA Instructors;
it provides ORCKA members with $5,000,000
in Commercial General Liability Insurance and $50,000 in Sport Accident Coverage [for injuries sustained while participating in ORCKA
sanctioned activities] -- sanctioning of activities is granted to ORCKA Organizational Members
who maintain an up-to-date Risk Management and Emergency Response Plan,
and who employ certified ORCKA Instructors. ORCKA sanctioned activities are referred to as ORCKA Program, and the corresponding
insurance as ORCKA Program Insurance.
Trip Leader Insurance
ORCKA's Trip Leader Insurance Program applies to ORCKA sanctioned trips, within Canada and lead by ORCKA certified
Trip Leaders;
it provides ORCKA Trip Leaders with $5,000,000 in Commercial General Liability Insurance -- sanctioning of trips is granted to
ORCKA certified Trip Leaders who take out an ORCKA membership; either an ORCKA Trip Leader membership, or an ORCKA Instructor membership
together with a $50 fee for the insurance. Trip Leaders fill out a
Trip Leader Insurance Application, and maintain an up-to-date
Risk Management and Emergency Response Plan.
Insurance Administration
ORCKA's Organizational and Instructor Members are covered under ORCKA Program Insurance by
virtue of being fully-paid members in good-standing. ORCKA Trip Leaders are covered under ORCKA's Trip Leader Insurance Program by virtue
of being an ORCKA Trip Leader Member, or by virtue of being an ORCKA Instructor Member [together with payment of a $50 insurance fee].
Certificates of insurance are available upon request [fee of $20.00].
ORCKA maintains a set of Program Manuals which serve as procedural guides for ORCKA Program
-- they prescribe how to responsibly conduct ORCKA Programming, and are available to ORCKA's membership.
ORCKA's membership is alerted of changes to ORCKA's Program Manuals prior to each paddling season, and the definitive version of
the Program Manuals is found online.
