Basic Canoeing Level 1 and 2
Taught over 2 mornings from the shoreline of the Toronto Island Canoe Club
This course is for adults 18+ . You must be able to comfortably swim in deep water to take this course. This 8-hour course is designed for novice and intermediate level paddlers who are looking to improve their paddling skills, knowledge and safety.

Saturday June 14 and Sunday June 15-- Take the 9:30 Ward’s Island Ferry and meet at 10:00 am at the TICC shoreline. The TICC is located just WEST of the ALGONQUIN ISLAND BRIDGE, off Cibola Avenue.

Theory

Over the two mornings we will learn and practice the following techniques on water:
· Launching and Removing a Canoe
· Entering and Exiting a Canoe
· Paddling Positions
· Balancing and trimming
· Changing positions
· Pivots
· Sideward displacement
· Forward and reverse straight line
· Inside and outside turns
· Circles and landings
· Stopping
· Landing
· Lifts and carries
· Canoe over canoe rescue (both rescuer and victim)
If we have a little time at the end of the course we will go on a short paddle tour of the Toronto Islands Lagoons. What a great way to take the perfect selfie and be a tourist in your own city.
