ORCKA BASIC CANOEING INSTRUCTOR COURSE
The course will run over 2 weekends starting Friday, May 30 to Sunday, June1 and Friday, June 6 to Sunday, June 8. It will be located at Wilson Conservation Area 21799 Fargo Rd, Chatham-Kent, ON.
Upon successful completion of the Basic Instructor Course, candidates will receive ORCKA certification as a Basic Instructor, allowing them to instruct, administer and certify participants at the ORCKA Basic Canoeing Levels 1-4 and the Safe Canoeing Program.
Successful candidates may also be considered for certification at CSP 1A, 1B or both, pending the level of paddling skills demonstrated throughout the course.
Included in the fee is the one-year ORCKA Instructor’s membership.
Candidates must be at least 16 years of age and have been certified at Basic Levels 1-4 OR show comparable skills as determined by Randy Bartlett.
EQUIPMENT
Candidates are encouraged to bring their own canoe, paddle, PFD, and safety kit. We will also have canoes and equipment on site, if needed, at no extra cost.
ACCOMMODATIONS
There is camping onsite or hotels close by in Chatham or Blenheim. Participants will be responsible for their own food and snacks.
Participants will also be responsible for the daily parking fee.

Randy has run many Basic Instructor Courses over the past 30 years. Many of those paddlers have gone on to achieve higher levels of instructor status as well as skill achievement.
