Prerequisites: ORCKA Voyageur Canoe Level 1 and ORCKA Basic Canoeing Level 3, or equivalent certification, comparable skills, and experience (with permission of the course instructors). Georgian Bay and the Bighead River will serve as our classroom to learn the safe and effective manoeuvring of big canoes, on and off the water, the avant and gouvernail positions and big canoe rescues. We'll head inside the Reef Boat Club's clubhouse at Meaford Harbour to cover the theory components of this course. PFDs and paddles available to borrow upon request.
