ORCKA Basic Canoe Instructor
Location: Huntsville
Fees Include: ORCKA Canoeing Program Manual, 2022 ORCKA Membership, and one year subscription to Paddling Magazine.
Participant is responsible for ♦accommodations, paddles, pfd, safety kit, and canoe or *canoe rental
Prerequisites:
- at least 16 years of age
- ORCKA Basic Level 1 - 4
- Or comparable skills & experiences - with permission from Director - Judy Kirkwood.
The Basic Instructors course provides you with the recognized provincial certification from ORCKA (Ontario Recreational Canoeing and Kayak Association).
As a Basic Canoe Instructor, the successful candidate may instruct and administer
- ORCKA Basic Canoeing Levels 1-2-3-4 courses
- Instruct at a Safe Canoeing Program
- Assist at a future Camp Canoeing Instructors Course
- And assist at a future Basic Canoe Instructors course
As a bonus, participants with proven skills will also earn ORCKA Canadian Style Paddling Level 1 (A-Tandem) and (B-Solo) certification. Evaluation of paddling skills will be ongoing throughout the entire course.
NOTE: Basic Instructor course is a 48 hour course over 5 days.

♦Accommodations- Kirkwood Canoe has Reserved 2 campground sites at Arrowhead Provincial Park. You may inquire about sharing with other participants (cover the campsite fees) May 18-23 dates are confirmed,
