From the ORCKA Board of Directors:
We sincerely hope that you are staying well, and that everyone you know is healthy; the pandemic has affected all of us, and we're all working to get through it together. Let's remember that being separated physically doesn't mean that we have to lose all connection; we encourage you to reach out to friends and family, to be supportive during this challenging time, and to start thinking about and preparing for the upcoming paddling season ... paddling is an important part of our well-being, and we can't wait to get back at it!
Participating in ORCKA as an organization and conducting ORCKA programming is the best way to promote safe, knowledgeable, and enjoyable paddling in Ontario. We're laying the groundwork to provide support to our membership so that we can get out and run programming in 2021. This season we'll see: updated protocols reflecting what we've learned about COVID-19; updated recommendations to promote staying in line with our Public Health Units' directives; direction and leadership when it comes to the `new landscape' in liability, and ORCKA's insurance in a COVID-19 era. Over the next couple of weeks we’ll be providing all the details so that people can organize their programming accordingly and get going on their preparation for paddling in 2021.
We're looking forward to this season; ORCKA programming in 2020 was slow, but was run successfully and with no issues -- and so we're looking forward to more people getting back out and at it in 2021. ORCKA's membership plays an important leadership role in Ontario's paddling community -- let's all continue to set the proper example.
Stay safe everyone, and keep well!
