This tandem course builds on the skills introduced in Basic Canoeing Level 1 by refining paddling techniques. The prerequisite for this course is Basic Canoe Level 1, equivalent certification, or comparable skills and experience (with permission of the Course Instructor).
Participants will perform a canoe-over-canoe rescue and retrieve a swamped canoe (in water activity). The candidate must be able to swim in deep water while wearing an approved Personal Flotation Device (PFD). Theory topics include outdoor precautions, government regulations and equipment knowledge. Skills taught include: trimming, changing positions, inside and outside turns, circles and landings, reverse straight line and lifts and carries.
