Position: Summer Paddling Camp Instructors

The Canadian Canoe Museum is looking for energetic individuals to lead our 2018
Summer Paddling Camp sessions.

The Canoe Museum offers summer paddling day camps and multi-day canoe trips
for youth ages 8 to 14. We provide a fun, safe and supportive environment for kids
to interact with nature, hone their paddling skills, meet new friends and enjoy
summertime in the Kawarthas to the fullest. We’re proud to teach “no-trace”
camping principles as well as skill levels laid out by the Ontario Recreational
Canoeing and Kayaking Association (ORCKA).

The Summer Paddling Camps Instructors are responsible for the safe and effective
delivery of a diverse range of sessions and programs, including guiding multi-day
backcountry canoe trips.

Kayak Guide Job Posting

1000 Islands Kayaking is seeking a talented, experienced and highly-motivated kayak guide. The ideal

candidate will have previous guiding experience, possess strong leadership skills, and be able to effectively

teach various kayaking skills to clients

Location:

This position will be based out of our Gananoque location. Hours: Full-time and Part-time Season: Training

begins at the end of April, and season goes to October.

Responsibilities:

Operate tours to company standards

-Complete in-house training 

-Off water duties include: setting and cleaning up kayaks for the day, preparing lunches, front of house operations, and gear maintenance.

Skills:

-Outgoing and friendly,

- Experience guiding considered an asset

-Ability to teach kayaking components 

-Leadership skills

-Current First Aid

-Boat Drivers license considered an asset 

-SVOP (preferred)

-Level 1kayaking skills

-Bronze cross or National lifeguard certificate

-Be able to attain a security check

About 1000 Islands Kayaking:

1000 Islands Kayaking began 12 years ago with only a couple of kayaks. Today we have over 100 seats in our

fleet. We strive to contribute to sustainable communities, while maintaining a close partnership with National Parks

and Biosphere Reserve. We continue to promote high standards of safety and quality within our programs. We

offer excellent internal training opportunities. We offer many opportunities to get children on the water and

have strong ties to the school board curriculum.

 

We are a customer service-based company located out of Gananoque, Ontario. We offer guided full day, half

day, and 3-day camping trips. We also work with local school boards in the spring and full to promote paddling

activities for school groups and various organizations. During the summer months we also offer skills courses

as well as kids camps located in Gananoque and Brockville.
